Polished concrete floor process.
Hired planatery grinder and rust extract machines.

The planatery grinder made no impression whatsoever so resorted to angle grinder with diamond segmented disk.

Of course the dust extractor didn't fit the angle grinder!
With the surface now dressed and the agrigates exposed, the planatery grinder with 40grit diamond segments started to give a more polished finish.

The surface is then densified with chemical and looked a bit like this.

The diamond segments wore to almost zero.

After several passes at 50, 100, 200 and 400 grits the floor is looking like this.

The planatery grinder doesn't reach the corners or edges particularly well so they need cut in buy hand. 

Being smart I got a  7inch velcro backing disk and put it on the angle grinder. However the angle grinder has 2 speeds,  on and off! The resin pads flew off at full speed resulting in this...

So have purchased variable speed polisher which is just the ticket for doing the edge job.

Next will come waxing!

28 days till grinding and polishing!

Underfloor heating pipes and manifold is in place.

Next thing is concrete...... again

Well  here is concrete ! I guessed 8 cubic metres, the guts supplied 7.95 out the back of the truck!

Must  be getting better at the estimating!

Reinforcing mesh for concrete under floor is set on these clever chaps. I bought 200 of each size and have about 40 of each left. Will see if I can off load them on gumtree!

After discussions with architect, concrete cannot go on top of ash solum, so 5 cubic meters or so us now excavated and is in skip!

Floor now up. Decision to be made on location of drains, also if concrete can go directly on top of ash solium.

Kitchen and dining room now temporarily in garage! 

All clear to lift floors 

No more props!

The steel is up!!!

There are railway bridges made of lighter section than this!!

Here it is now encased in 2 cubic metres of reinforced concrete! 

Tiles and ply removed from kitchen floor in readiness for props under bathroom floor.

New doorway created where kitchen window used to be.

Quite a few bricks removed.

Steel deliverer sat morn. It now rests near where it will be installed.  The props can now go in and the back wall come down.

The props are in place in former dinning room. However kitchen floor and ceiling need part removed to prop under bath room.
